As part of my culminating experience at Berklee College of Music, I got the privilege to record at AIR Studios in London with some of the best musicians in the world.
The narrative behind this piece was originally a separate creative outlet focussed on worldbuilding and storytelling, but while brainstorming ideas for the project, I thought about merging the two of them.
Being inspired by the iconic scores to the Alien franchise by Goldsmith and Horner, the outcome was the creation of Celestial Gateway. Enjoy!

Born in the picturesque Magdalen Islands, Jonathan Lapierre is a young French Canadian composer for visual media who aspires to move audiences through his music and musical soundscapes. From a young age, he was surrounded by music, experienced various art forms, and eventually developed a passion for film scoring. This led him to leave the little archipelago where he grew up to move to Québec City to pursue higher education.
Completing a Bachelor of the Arts degree at Laval University in musical composition a few years later, he then quickly embarked on a Masters in the same field under the direction of Éric Morin. This led to one of his works being premiered by the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal (OSM) in April 2022. And yet, it wasn't the only highlight of this year as he also received an acceptance letter from Berklee College of Music where he went on to complete a Master in Scoring for Film, Television, and Video Games in València, Spain in 2023.
With the likes of Horner, Desplat, Shore, Newman, and many other great composers influencing his work, Jonathan creates his own unique colour that will transport listeners through the different sonore landscapes required for any type of visual media. So, if you are looking for a composer who will be able to give a unique colour to your projects, look no further, you've already found the one you need.

Né dans les pittoresques Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Jonathan Lapierre est un jeune compositeur canadien-français pour multimédias qui aspire à émouvoir le public à travers sa musique et ses paysages sonores. Dès son jeune âge, il est entouré de musique, fait l’expérience de diverses formes d’art et se passionne pour la musique à l’image. Cela l’amène à quitter le petit archipel où il a grandi pour s’installer à Québec afin de poursuivre des études supérieures.
Après avoir obtenu un baccalauréat en composition à l’Université Laval quelques années plus tard, il a rapidement entrepris une maîtrise dans le même domaine sous la direction d’Éric Morin. En avril 2022, l’Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM) crée une de ses œuvres. Et pourtant, ce n’était pas le seul moment fort de cette année car il a également reçu une lettre d’acceptation du Berklee College of Music où il d'un Master in Scoring for Film, Television, and Video Games à València, Espagne en 2023.
Avec Horner, Desplat, Shore, Newman et beaucoup d’autres grands compositeurs qui influencent son travail, Jonathan crée sa propre couleur unique qui transportera les auditeurs à travers les différents paysages sonores requis pour tout type de média visuel. Donc, si vous cherchez un compositeur qui pourra donner une couleur unique à vos projets, ne cherchez pas plus loin, vous avez déjà trouvé celui dont vous avez besoin.
